As with many commissions, our project in Hertfordshire, blossomed from a fitted kitchen concept into a complete refurbishment of the kitchen, dining room, television area, utility room, study and boot room. Working closely with the client and Blackstone, we developed the client’s requests into a full re-organisation of the ground floor.
PROJECT DETAILS
We formed structural openings to introduce light into once darker areas; removed a very old and precarious chimney stack and carried out a full redecoration. Particular attention was paid to technical detailing as we negotiated the pitfalls of working on areas of the property that were very old and aligning them with more recent additions to the property. More Velux windows were added and fitted with electrically operated blinds and motorised opening. Even the existing Veluxes were retrospectively fitted with solar powered blinds and opening function.
There is a strong sense of continuity which is achieved with the Victorian beaded detailing of the cabinetry and walnut finishes inside the units which is carried through all the cabinetry and used for the study desktop and boot room bench. The Avignon grey tumbled limestone floor runs from the boot room all the way to the utility room at the opposite end of the property, punctuated with the kitchen island, dining table and chairs and the inviting sitting room furniture.
“He understands the difficulties of living with the build, and goes the extra mile to make this as bearable as possible. He and his team are a pleasure to work with and provide the highest quality of workmanship. Ultimately, he strives for perfection and has built us a beautiful home.”
